Springhill Suites by Marriott – Nashville, Tennessee Review

Located in downtown Nashville, Tennessee, just a few blocks from the famous Broadway Avenue, is the Springhill Suites by Marriott hotel. My sister and I stayed here for two nights while on a road trip. Overall, this is a very nice Springhill Suites – much nicer than your average Springhill in a suburban area. Here is my review on this huge hotel, located in a prime downtown Nashville location.

Springhill Suites Nashville – Location

The Springhill Suites shares its location with the Residence Inn and AC Hotel (both are Marriott properties). The location is amazing for exploring the popular and touristy “Broadway Avenue” in downtown Nashville, famous for its live music venues. It’s also conveniently located to a few other popular Nashville tourist attractions, such as the Country Music Hall of Fame, Bridgestone Arena, and the Ryman Auditorium. It’s also located near the convention center; we noticed a lot of the other guests here were staying for a convention.

Parking

Like most downtown hotels in any major US city, you will need to pay a parking fee — and it’s valet-only. I hate both of these things, and it’s another reason why I avoid staying in major cities, but because my sister and I had never been to Nashville before, time to suck it up and do it.

Parking was expensive at $43/night (2022 pricing) and you have in/out privileges, which was nice because we needed the car to visit the Grand Ol Opry and the Belle Meade Mansion during our trip.

After you drop off your car with the valet, you head into the hotel and up the elevator to the check-in floor.

Check in:

I hold Marriott’s highest loyalty tier – Ambassador status – but I did not receive an upgrade, which was a little disappointing being that we visited Nashville in January – one of the least busiest times of the year. Again though, this is a Springhill Suites, so there’s not a whole lot that they can upgrade you too – it’s not like this brand has a Presidential Suite or anything – but a higher floor room would’ve been welcome.

The check in area is really interesting – I loved the bold floral wallpaper. We arrived a bit early – around noon – and our room wasn’t ready yet, so we hung out in the lobby. It was only about a 20 minute wait, and then we were ready for check-in.

Fitness Center:

The workout area was awesome! It was a decent sized gym and had all the equipment you would want. It was extremely busy every morning when I worked out (I was down there at about 6:15am every morning). They even have 3 Peloton bikes (with Peloton subscriptions) that you can use – I made good use of that!

Laundry:

We had to do laundry one night here. The laundry room was large and had plenty of washers and dryers. Machines only accept quarters (I really wish these places would use ones that accept card payment – it’s annoying to have to travel with heavy bags of change). But the machines worked well. The laundry room was located on the same floor as the lobby/check in area/breakfast/gym/etc), which was nice because there was plenty of comfy seating to hang out while our clothes were being washed.

Pool:

The Springhill Suites in Nashville has an outdoor pool, located on the same floor as the lobby, so it’s kind of like a rooftop pool, providing some nice views of downtown. However, we visited in January and the pool was closed for the season.

Lobby / Breakfast area / Restaurant and Bar

I loved the lobby area! Tons of seating with booths, tables, and nooks everywhere, lots of charging stations for your electronics and gigantic floor-to-ceiling windows with great views.

Breakfast was decent – it’s your typical Springhill Suites breakfast so nothing notable. Breakfast was very busy during our January stay but because the seating area is so large, we never had a problem finding a place to sit.

There is a bar here (the AC Lounge) where you can order appetizers, but we didn’t use it. And I guess there is another American restaurant here too, along with a Mexican restaurant on street level, but we didn’t eat any any of these places.

Rooms

We had a two-queen room. The room was clean and modern, and looked like your typical Springhill Suites hotel room. We had plenty of space in the room. There was a seating area with a couch, tv, and a desk, along with a Keurig coffee maker and a small refrigerator. Plenty of plug-ins for your electronic devices. The bathroom had a sliding door. Additionally, there was a large closet near the window but we didn’t use it.

Springhill Suites by Marriott Final Thoughts

Both my sister and I loved our stay at the Springhill Suites. Everything was modern, clean, and the rooms are spacious. It’s in an extremely convenient location for exploring Nashville’s Broadway -the most “touristy” part of the city, but the downside is the expensive on-site forced valet parking. Despite this, I would definitely stay here again if I find myself in Nashville.
