Best Western War Bonnet Inn – Miles City, Montana Review

For me, Miles City, Montana is a great stopping point for the night when traveling out west – so I often times find myself looking for lodging in Miles City, Montana for a quick overnight stop. And every single time I find myself in this situation, I stay at the Best Western “War Bonnet Inn” in Miles City, Montana. So I’m pretty familiar with this hotel. Best Western War Bonnet Inn – Miles City, Montana Location

Obviously, this hotel is located in Miles City, Montana, which is a smallish town in Eastern Montana. The Best Western is located right off of I-90, making it a convenient location for an overnight stop on a road trip.

There are lots of restaurants within the area – the last time I was here, my sister and I were hauling a U-Haul trailer across the country, so we parked at the Best Western and didn’t want to move the car again because of the trailer, so we walked to the Mexican restaurant just a few blocks away.

Because this hotel is right on the “main drag” of Miles City, you may hear traffic noise from your room. This never bothered me, but I wanted to mention it in case you’re sensitive to noise.

Best Western War Bonnet Inn Review – General Information

This motel/hotel is an exterior corridor style motel, where are rooms are accessed from the outside. It’s a two-story hotel with no elevator, so if you have issues with stairs (or you hate lugging your crap up a flight of stairs), you might want to request a first floor room. I’ve stayed in both ground floor rooms and upper floor rooms, and while I always prefer higher floors (because you won’t get any stomping from rude upstairs guests), it’s so much easier loading and unloading on the lower floor.

I thought the parking lot was pretty small – every time I stay here, I’ve always arrived after 8pm and the parking lot was nearly full. (When I was pulling a trailer, I was extremely lucky to get a spot – which was why we didn’t want to move the car to go to dinner!)

Amenities – Miles City Best Western

The Best Western War Bonnet Inn in Miles City, Montana has a free breakfast but I never end up eating it because it’s very, very bare bones and always looks so unappetizing. Think dry cereal, bruised fruit, prepackaged cereal, and pastries. The hot food looked pathetic, especially the scrambled eggs floating in a pool of water. Eek.

The breakfast seating area is tiny – they have it in a small room with only a few tables and chairs.

The hotel has an indoor pool and a hot tub, but I’ve never used either one but it did look inviting. There is no fitness center.

Best Western War Bonnet Inn – Miles City, Montana Rooms

Rooms are your standard Best Western-style rooms – nothing out of the ordinary, but clean and spacious, if not a bit dated. I’ve always stayed in a 2-queen room. The hotel is pet-friendly. I’m not a fan of the pillows they used here (and at some other Best Western locations) – they’re the small pillows that are the size of a throw pillow. I hate that.

Rooms have a microwave and a mini fridge and free wifi and a good amount of electrical outlets to plug in your devices.

Best Western Miles City – Final Thoughts

This hotel is perfectly fine for a one-night stay on a road trip. It’s right off the highway and located near lots of restaurants (most of which are fast food but what to you expect in a small town in rural Montana?!). The property is older and could use a remodel, but for the price point, it works out fine for one night.
