Where to stay in Gillette Wyoming? Are you looking for a place to stay in Gillette Wyoming? Why not try the Best Western? If you search for reviews of the Best Western Tower Lodge hotel in Gillette, Wyoming, you’ll come up with a bunch of negative reviews. Those negative reviews of the Best Western Tower Lodge in Gillette, WY nearly put me off from staying here. But I took a chance – the price of a room here sucked me in, it’s pet friendly, and I’m glad I gave it a chance! I can be very picky with hotels (hey, I lived in a Marriott hotel for a whole year – that’s a story for another time though!) but I truly enjoyed my stay here at the Best Western Tower Lodge in Gillette Wyoming so much that I ended up staying here twice in 2020 and twice in 2021 (Gillette, Wyoming is a great stopping point for road trips out west for me!)

As you can see, the hotel is right off the highway – very convenient. If you’re coming from the east, this will be the second highway exit in Gillette.

Staying at the Best Western Gillette, Wyoming
Obviously, the Best Western in Gillette Wyoming isn’t the nicest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The rooms are large and clean, there’s good water pressure in the bathroom, the hotel is pet friendly. And the staff is very friendly – from the front desk to the servers in the lounge and restaurant, they’re all great!
Yes, this place is a little dated and could use a fresh coat of paint. The hallways are a complete maze with an odd room numbering system that I can’t seem to figure out – I got lost more than one time! The fitness center needs some work – the two treadmills do NOT work – and I’ve tried to use them on two separate stays. And chances are, they still aren’t working. The elliptical works and provides an adequate workout.
Restaurant, Bar and Lounge
The Best Western in Gillette has a lounge/bar that opens up at 5pm. There’s also the Silver Creek Steakhouse restaurant but I didn’t eat there for dinner.
I ate in the lounge on both of my trips and I loved it. There’s just somethin’ about. You walk in, and they’ve got Sturgill Simpson blasting on the jukebox, bunch of locals at the bar, a few tourists at the tables, and everyone looks like they’re having fun. It’s dingy, dark and a wee bit shady – it’s exactly what I’d expect from a Gillette, Wyoming bar! Total classic Wyoming, you gotta love it. Plus the food is good – Mushroom Swiss burger is to die for.
As for breakfast, it isn’t free. This is considered to be a full-service hotel, so you have to pay for your meal if you want to eat at the hotel. Breakfast is served at the Silver Creek Steakhouse.
Now, you might need to cough up some money but it’s a damn good breakfast. Honestly, I’d rather pay for the breakfast and get decent food, than eat a stale bagel, questionable fruit and powdered eggs from your typical free hotel breakfast. For both of my stays, I ate at breakfast at the restaurant.
Best Western Tower Lodge – Gillette Wyoming – Final Thoughts
This hotel is classic Wyoming, especially the restaurant and bar/lounge. It’s dated, it’s no-frills, yet it keeps me coming back. Are there nicer places to stay in Gillette Wyoming? Of course! However, if you stay at the Marriott across the street, you’re not going to be rockin’ out to Sturgill on the jukebox over there!
