Best Western Driftwood Inn – Idaho Falls, ID Review

Idaho Falls has two Best Western properties and they’re not that far away from each other, so if you book one of these hotels, it can get a little confusing. There’s the Best Western Cottontree Inn and the Best Western Driftwood Inn. The major difference is the location – the Driftwood hotel is on the river and Cottontree is not. I’ve actually stayed at both hotels, but for this review, I’ll just be reviewing the Best Western Driftwood Inn.

Best Western Driftwood Inn – Location

Address: 575 River Pkwy, Idaho Falls, ID 83402

The location of this hotel is fantastic – it’s right along the Snake River and you are within easy walking distance of the “falls” for which Idaho Falls is known. Across the street is a nice, paved walking trail where you can stroll along the river, eventually making it to the falls. I absolutely loved this, as I was traveling with my dog and he loved being able to go on walks in this scenic location.

You can also walk to downtown Idaho Falls from this location as well as some restaurants, breweries and shops.

Rooms at the Best Western Driftwood Inn in Idaho Falls

My dog and I were assigned a two-queen room on the second floor, facing the river. I paid a little more to have this room, so if you don’t need the river view, you can save a little money by getting a room in the interior section of the motel. There is no elevator in this hotel and all the rooms are motorcourt-style with the doors having outside corridor access. Each room has a bench outside the room in the corridor if you want to sit outside. The view from your room is amazing!

I had to call the front desk for a noise complaint – my neighbors were making a ton of noise outside in the hallway well after 11pm. This issue was resolved promptly but it is worth noting that the walls in the hotel are pretty thin.

Amenities at the Best Western Driftwood Inn – Idaho Falls

This hotel has a fitness center, pool and a hot tub. The pool is outdoors, and the hot tub and fitness center are located in their own small outbuilding. The fitness center was fine – all cardio equipment was in working condition and it was modern enough. I didn’t get a chance to use the hot tub but it looked very nice. Both the hot tub and fitness center are open 24 hours.

They also have complimentary bikes you can check-out if you’d like to bike around the city! I didn’t do this as I only stayed here one night but that might be a fun thing to do if you’re staying for multiple nights.

Breakfast

Breakfast was great and was located in the main check-in lobby. Because this is a motorcourt-style hotel, you’ll need to walk outside to get here. Though the breakfast seating area was very small, there weren’t a lot of people here at the hotel, so I was able to get a table for myself. They offer your standard hotel breakfast items, but they will cook eggs to-order and make omelettes, which is great! I always appreciate real eggs at hotel breakfasts; not that nasty powdered shit.

Best Western Driftwood Inn – Idaho Falls – Final Thoughts

Pros:

• Clean, large rooms with comfy beds
• Walls are thin but if you have issues with noise, notify the front desk and they’ll take care of it.
• Made-to-order eggs at breakfast
• Great location, right along the river walk, with amazing views
• Walking distance for restaurants

Cons

• There is a sketchy Rodeway Inn next door. I actually thought it was abandoned but it’s not.
• Not much seating in the breakfast area

All in all, I would definitely stay here again if I’m in the Idaho Falls area – very nice hotel with an amazing location!
